Medical Laboratory Technology, also called Clinical laboratory science, is an allied health/paramedical profession, which is concerned with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease through the use of clinical laboratory tests. Doctors rely on laboratory technologies to detect, diagnose and treat diseases. The programme covers the basics of preclinical subjects such as Biochemistry, Pathology, Microbiology and Blood Banking. Medical Laboratory Technologists (MLT) do these tests by analyzing body fluids, tissues, blood typing, microorganism screening, chemical analyses, cell counts of human body etc.
The scope of Optometry includes the detection of common eye diseases, the management of binocular vision problems such as squints and lazy eyes and the prescription of spectacles and contact lenses. The Bachelor degree in Optometry is a programme that aims to produce professionally competent optometrists serving as primary eye care health practitioners. Radiography is the art and science of producing medical images using x-radiation. Technologists produce images for the radiologists interpretation to aid in medical diagnoses. The program prepares you, under the direction of a medical specialist (radiologist), to work in the hospital medical imaging department, at the patient’s bedside, in the operating room or Emergency or in private imaging clinics.
